Scotty's Castle

Scotty Castle is a must see when you visit Death Valley National Park. It is a beautiful hacienda in the upper reaches of Grapevine Canyon in the north end of the valley.

One unusal thing about Scotty's Castle is that is was not owned by it's namesake, Walter "Scotty" Scott. He was known at the time as Death Valley Scotty. It was actually owned by an excentric millionaire who was unconcerned that people thought it was owned by his hired hand, Scotty.

The "Castle" is not a castle either. Actually it is a Spanish style hacienda.
We visited Scotty's living room, the dining room, and Scotty's bedroom. Most interesting was a music room complete with a room sized player pipe organ.
